Bookmark and Share
Location West Palm Beach
Dates January 26, 2020 - January 26, 2020
Description: For the first time, the Urban Stories Festival's "Stories of Faith and Music" interfaith gathering will take place in the beautiful West Palm Beach Historic Northwest District. On January 26, 2020, the Festival in conjunction with Florida Humanities, Florida Atlantic University's Center for Urban & Environmental Solutions (CUES) and The City of West Palm Beach CRA will host this fun-filled afternoon. The event brings together leaders from diverse faith traditions to share experiences, celebrate diversity, and find common ground.

"We believe sharing stories (and breaking bread together) builds community. We draw strength from our faith; however, we may practice. We find hope within music both spiritual and secular. We would like to talk, we would like to listen, and we would like to eat." said Event organizer Serena Ann Hoermann.

Event storytellers lined up for this year's event includes Imam Mohamed Ismail of the Muslim Community of Palm Beach County Inc. (MCPBC), Assistant Pastor Kevin Jones of Tabernacle Church in the City of West Palm Beach, Pastor Sheila Guillaume whom leads the Union Congregational United Church of Christ, Rabbi Cookie Lea Olshein of Temple Israel, and music by "Historian and Jazz Vocalist" Dr. Kitty Oliver.

The event will take place on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 3:00 pm, at U.B. Kinsey Educational & Community Center, 720 8th Street, West Palm Beach, FL. Attendees will enjoy stories from diverse faiths, culture and music followed by food and fellowship.
