Description: | From Florida Forest Festival Website: Originating in 1956, the Florida Forest Festival (then called the Pine Tree Festival) began as an educational resource to share the story of Floridas forestry heritage, fire safety, and the prevalence of the timber industry in Taylor County and the surrounding region. Today the weekend-long event, held at Forest Capital Park in Perry, FL, still exhibits the essence of the festivals original vision during its celebration in the Tree Capital of the South!
While education is still a focal point, the Florida Forest Festival has branched out to include an equipment show, parades, a fireworks presentation, a childrens lumberjack camp, and in a nod to its history, a traditional 1950s sock hop!
Music, arts and crafts vendors, and the worlds largest complimentary fish fry round out the happenings during the Florida Forest Festival, a fun and educational family event!
