Sarasota Chalk Festival - Expired Event

Location Burns Square
Sarasota, FL 34236
November 13, 2013 - November 17, 2013 - CONFIRMED!

From Sarasota Chalk Festival Website:

The Sarasota Chalk Festival is an outdoor street art festival that is nestled in the Historic Burns Square area of downtown Sarasota, just a few blocks from the waterfont. It is a celebration of the cultural performing arts, and highlights the ephemeral art of street painting where artists use pastel chalk as their medium and the street surface as their canvas to create beautiful masterpieces. Over the course of 2 - 6 days the art comes to life and the public are invited to watch the creative process. Every year, the festival invites local, national and international chalk artists to share their wonderful talent with us, turning our streets into a Museum in Motion!

Hundreds more participate as the event nurtures performance street art movements such as; Going Vertical, where artists paint on pre-approved walls, boards and cellophane; Chalk Chill, our new music stage and lounge area that will feature over 50 bands and musicians; and the The Observer Group South Stage, full of magic, circus acts, singing, and other performances that will inspire the circus in all!

The festival's mission is to bring diverse groups of people together to celebrate, be inspired by, and participate in the cultural and performing arts. Every year we invite the public to participate by interacting with the artists, and through the KidsServe Chalk Block where the young, and young at heart, are invited to create their own little masterpieces. High School Students work alongside professional artists in the Student Chalk Event and learn from them, as well as from lectures and classes with some of the world's most renowned street artists. All events at the Sarasota Chalk Festival are free to participate in and attend!
