Description: 32nd Annual Pensacola Seafood Festival

Pensacola, Fla. (September 8, 2009) Savor delicious Gulf Coast seafood at the 32nd annual Pensacola Seafood Festival. The annual festival presented by the Fiesta of Five Flags Association, Miller Lite, Buffalo Rock Pepsi, COX, and WEAR ABC 3 will be held September 25, 26 and 27 in historic Seville Square in downtown Pensacola.

Times: Friday, September 25 Noon – 11 p.m.
Saturday, September 26 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Sunday, September 27 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Pensacola Seafood Festival has been consistently recognized as one of the Top 20 festivals in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society and will feature a variety of delicious seafood dishes and other festival fare. Some highlights of this year’s menu include southern style crab cakes, gator bites, blackened mahi mahi, bang bang shrimp, fried crawfish pistolettes, shrimp creole, boudin balls, and shark on a stick.

The festival will showcase more than 180 arts and crafts vendors who travel from around the country to participate in this three day festival. The artisans and craftsmen are handpicked for originality and offer one of a kind items in almost every medium - pottery, jewelry, mixed media, weavings and much more.

The Pensacola Seafood Festival features some of the areas best bands and promotes great family entertainment. The entertainment stage is in beautiful Fountain Park at the south end of Seville Square. Plan on bringing lawn chairs and staying late!

The Fiesta Seafood Grille, presented by Energy Services of Pensacola, will feature cooking demonstrations by local chefs who share their secrets for preparing favorite Gulf Coast recipes.

Meet local chefs whose recipes appear in the brand new “Fiesta Seafood Cookbook: A Taste of Pensacola”. The cookbook features 14 years of outstanding Seafood Festival recipes. Select chefs will be signing cookbooks which will be available for purchase throughout the weekend. Proceeds from cookbook sales benefit the Escambia Utility Assistance Program.

The 2009 Redfish Cup Championship returns to the Emerald Coast for its final stop of the 2009 season where the nation’s best anglers will battle for saltwater supremacy. This season culminates with, 20 two-man teams fishing for a $40,000 cash purse and ultimate bragging rights. All 20 teams will fish Friday and Saturday with the top five teams’ cumulative weights from day one and day two advancing to the final day on Sunday. The daily weigh-ins will take place at 3 p.m. on the Redfish Cup stage in Pensacola News Journal Pelican Park (Bartram Park).

The Splash Dogs is a dock jumping competition for dogs. Pets compete for distance by diving from a dock into a 25 foot long pool. Splash Dogs was founded in the summer of 2003 as a dog enthusiast company which organizes and promotes dock jumping competitions for dogs. Splash Dogs has been featured on ABC television and other major media outlets.

The Splash Dogs competition is open to any dog and handler team who wishes to enter. Training for newcomers and others will be provided. Please bring a crate to store your dog. Owners must bring documentation showing participating dogs have current tags and vaccinations. Competitive dogs are only allowed in Pensacola News Journal Pelican Park (Bartram Park).

Children may wish to visit “A Child’s Place” in Pensacola News Journal Pelican Park (Bartram Park) to enjoy fun-filled activities designed with them in mind. Fiesta and The Babin House of Party will be hosting the childrens area and will be open Friday, Noon to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy crafts, games, face painting and more. The Babin’s famous Candy Cannon will shoot candy daily throughout the weekend. Focusing on the mission of Fiesta, the Gulf Coast Kids House will be the recipient of half of the proceeds of the children’s area. The mission of the Gulf Coast Kids House is to facilitate the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse and neglect and promote child abuse prevention awareness through community education.

Local artist Joan Blackburn, who created the artwork for the 2009 festival, will be available to sign posters next to the gazebo in Seville Square. Joan Blackburn, originally from Loxley, AL, is a well-known Pensacola artist, teacher, juror and judge. Her painting “Catch of the Day” will be available for sale for $25 at the official merchandise booths during the Pensacola Seafood Festival. Signing times are Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Other merchandise featuring her painting will also be available.

The Pensacola Seafood Festival 5K Run/Walk is sponsored by the Pensacola Runners Association and Fiesta of Five Flags. This run kicks off the fall racing season in Pensacola and is a popular element of the Pensacola Seafood Festival. The run will commence at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Seville Quarter, 130 East Government Street. (September 15, 2009) The Pensacola Seafood Festival entertainment committee has put together an incredible schedule featuring some of the area’s finest local musical acts. The annual festival presented by the Fiesta of Five Flags Association, Miller Lite, Buffalo Rock Pepsi, COX, and WEAR ABC 3 will be held September 25, 26 and 27 in historic Seville Square in downtown Pensacola. The festival is open Friday, September 25, noon – 11 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Sunday, September 27, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. The entertainment lineup contains an array of various artists including PensaCola Steele, Mass Kunfuzion, Micah Roland and Company, Modern Eldorados, Night Breeze, and the Kyle Parker Band. The Pensacola Seafood Festival is pleased to have The Smart Brothers performing on Saturday, September 26 at 1:45 p.m. Lou and Jay Smart were recently nominated for Best Acoustic Award at the 19th Annual San Diego Music Awards. Also performing on Saturday is local act Micah Roland and Company. Rowland is a former Pensacola Children’s Chorus member and was a musical act at the recent 450th Pensacola birthday celebration. The master of ceremonies will be Louisiana disc jockey Rex Broussard, who has entertained audiences at the Pensacola Crawfish Festival for years.
